Glossopdale WI is the only daytime WI in the area. We started meeting in 1996 and now have 31 members ranging from 68 to 86 years young. In 2009 we won the Membership Cup for Small WIs in Derbyshire. We are part of the Pennine Group of WIs which also includes Charlesworth, Old Glossop, League of Ladies, Hadfield with Padfield, Simmondley and Whitfield and Tintwistle.

We were 25 years old during lockdown and have received certificates from both the Derbyshire Federation of WI and the National Federation of WI congratulating us. A big celebration was planned, but had to be abandoned due to restrictions.  However, we did plant 25 saplings of native British trees up at the Cemetery in the woodland area.

We support all the National WI Campaigns and Resolutions and we also support local charitable causes and other initiatives in our area. We send funding and aid abroad to ACWW (Associated Country Women of the World).

We get funding for educational events either from our own funds or from the Derbyshire Federation of WI .

Most of all we make friends and have lots of fun!
