Glossopdale WI is the only daytime WI in the area. We started meeting in 1996 and now have 35 members ranging from 30 to 86 years young. In 2009 we won the Membership Cup for Small WIs in Derbyshire. We are part of the Pennine Group of WIs which also includes Charlesworth, Old Glossop, Padfield, Simmondley, Tintwistle, and Whitfield.

We support all the National WI Campaigns and Resolutions. This year it is Love Your Libraries – to help to prevent the closure of local libraries.

We also support local charitable causes and other initiatives in our area. We send funding and aid abroad to ACWW (Associated Country Women of the World) and participate in Operation Christmas Child.

We offer opportunities for further education with our bursaries to attend the WI’s own Denman College.

Most of all we make friends and have lots of fun!

The Glossopdale WI meets regularly on the third Wednesday of the month at 9:30am, usually finishing at 12:00, in the Glossop Labour Club, Chapel Street, Glossop, Derbyshire, SK13 8AT. Following the meeting, members often meet for lunch at a local eatery. Guests are welcome for 3 meetings, after which time they will need to register as a member to attend.
