Hosted by Glossopdale April 19th 2013

By Judith:  The meeting was well supported by our members who carried out a variety of tasks ensuring that the whole meeting ran smoothly.

The meeting followed the usual format with the business part of the meeting first.  This was chaired, very ably, by Mari our president.

There was a short talk by Maggie Bristow, the DFWI representative, who urged us to support events that were put on in the north of the county and to request any events that we would like them to arrange.

This was followed by a reminder of future events and the stage was cleared in readiness for our main speaker Adam Corbally.  He was a very relaxed speaker and created a friendly and informal atmosphere.  He talked about the way he has approached the challenges in his life with a very positive “can do” attitude and never taking “can’t be done” as an answer.  He ended his inspiring talk by challenging us to attempt something that we have always wanted to do and then invited questions.  A lively session followed.

We then had a refreshment break with an endless supply of cakes and biscuits supplied by our members (some of which were sold at the end).

There followed the highlight of the evening with our short play “The Choice” which was very ably performed by Pauline, Essie, Monica, Diana, Man, Geraldine and Wendy.  This was well received by all.

The meeting concluded with the presentation of prizes for the competition, flowers to the pianist and DEWI representative, thanks to one and all and the singing of the National Anthem.

Many people commented on what an enjoyable evening it had been.  We can be pleased that we organised a successful meeting.
